A person who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his family member had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She said the man continued to play the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the police once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
